The Brotherhood of the Companions of Grandgousier

Confrérie de Grandgousier

The Brotherhood of the Companions of Grandgousier was born on February 22, 1958 on the initiative of local personalities, the mayor of Onzain and winemakers producing, on both banks of the Loire, our wines so pleasant to drink. It was the first brotherhood to be created in Loir-et-Cher.

Meeting twice a year in ordinary chapters (called “harvest” and “spring”) and in exceptional chapters as needed, our vocation is to make known, consume and encourage the wines of TOURAINE and TOURAINE- MESLAND.

The companion wears the red dress with gold trim and pointed hat, a splendid bunch of grapes as a jumper reminiscent of their vinous vocation. They wear it legitimately after a solemn enthronement during which they take an oath of:
– defend at all times the reputation of TOURAINE and TOURAINE-MESLAND wines
– to consume not less than a hundred good bottles a year.
